Who can access our service

Children aged 4 to 13 years old who are attending primary school can attend our service. Also children starting school in January can participate in the January Vacation Care Program.

Our main schools are Richmond North Public School and Grose View Public School, but sometimes children from other schools can be taken in as well, depending on availabilities.

Children attending Richmond North Public School are walked directly to and from school each day.

Children attending Grose View Public School are walked to Richmond North Public School in the morning where they catch a public school bus at 8.45am. In the afternoon Grose View students catch a public school bus once again and this bus drops them directly at the service around 3.30pm.

Waiting List

We are licensed for 45 children. A waiting list is in place for days we are at full capacity.

We follow our Priority of Access guidelines to determine who has priority of access for vacant positions.

How to apply

Please fill in the application for enrolment and forward it to our office.

Whilst we do our utmost to cater for all children, completion of this form does not automatically guarantee a place at the service, as our priority of access guidelines apply.

Meals provided:

Breakfast:

Children attending Before School Care and arriving prior to 8am are most welcome to have breakfast with us! We provide a wide variety of daily breakfast foods (including cereals, toast, yoghurt and fruit), with a ‘special’ item one day a week. Children that have breakfast at the service are encouraged to bring a toothbrush and toothpaste in a plastic container to be stored at the service. They then brush their teeth before going to school in the morning.

Afternoon Tea:

Afternoon tea is provided to all children at 4pm daily. Children are encouraged to participate in the creation of the menu, and are provided with opportunities to serve afternoon tea to the group. The service will choose one day a week where the staff will choose the afternoon tea food, most often relating to the program topic of the week. This also allows children to be exposed to new, and different foods. A fruit platter is served at each afternoon tea, and is available for the afternoon after afternoon tea has been served. Water is readily available for children at all times.

Please note: We are allergy aware and discourage products containing nuts at our service.

What you need to supply

  • Medication

You need to supply any medication your child may require (for example Epipen, asthma medication or any other regular or one off medications). A medication management plan from your doctor is needed for all permanent medication. Our ‘Administration of Medication’ Policy is available on request. Action Plans that are prepared by a medical practitioner are also required for any medical conditions – including asthma and anaphylaxis.

  • Special Foods

In case of food allergies or intolerances: Special foods – please discuss details with the Nominated Supervisor.

  • A raincoat (with name) – this can be either in the child’s bag or stored at Fun Factory.
  • A broad rimmed sunhat (with name) and sunscreen

Please note: Children must be wearing clothes that cover their shoulders, and enclosed shoes at all times.

Children will not be permitted to play outside without a hat.

  • If your child uses the school bus they need an Opal Card.

Our programs

Our programs are done weekly to reflect specific topics that match the theme of the year, and are always planned in conjunction with the My Time our Place learning framework and the National Quality Framework.

Whilst structured activities are programmed surrounding a theme, there is also ample opportunity for children to choose and create their own learning experiences within the service. Structured/cultural/science/gardening etc. activities are always made available for all children to participate in, ensuring children of all ages and abilities can join in the experiences. Children are not grouped to participate in certain activities, and they always have free choice as to the activities they engage in, whether it be structured, programmed or spontaneous.

Vacation care at North Richmond Fun Factory is always full of fun activities. Vacation care programs include a variety of in-centre theme days, incursions and excursions. The activities and themes are dependent on the season, and children’s interests, and we try to expose children to new experiences as often as possible. Where possible we will have an experience that allows children to consolidate their learning throughout the term (e.g an African Drumming incursion following our term exploring Africa).

It is imperative to note that all programmed activities, and spontaneous activities that take place at the service link directly to My Time our Place, and the learning outcomes in the framework.
